Priyanka’s loss is Queen director’s gain
Little did actor-producer Priyanka Chopra know that her prolonged stay in the US might cost her a film which could have been the first mainstream Hindi film produced by her company.

Purple Pebble Pictures could really have been the one to produce Math genius Anand Kumar’s biopic. But Super Thirty is Vikas Bahl and producer Preeti Sinha’s baby now.

Turns out that Anurag Basu who was assigned the directorial, based on mathematician in 2014, became too busy with Jagga Jasoos starring Ranbir and Katrina. Enquiries also reveal that he was unsure about which biopic he’d eventually make after the detective movie- Kishore Kumar or Anand Kumar.

Next, Priyanka’s company jumped in to the fray. The National Award Winner’s assistants were constantly in talks with the mathematician for the rights to his biopic. The talks lasted a couple of months but fell through in the advanced stages. Later, Priyanka zoomed off to America for Quantico and other Hollywood assignments.

As a result, the door was once again open for another producer to walk in. This time, Preeti Sinha stepped in and walked out only once the deal had been signed.

When contacted, Anand confirmed the news, saying, “Yes, Priyanka Chopra’s team was in touch with me but unfortunately, it didn’t work out. She was away for prolonged periods, though her interest had never waned. It was taking very long for the modalities to be finalized. I couldn’t wait for too long. So, when Vikas Bahl came on board with Preeti, I agreed and signed the deal.
